Seems to be good for the moneyJul 19, 2008 While I haven't taken this out yet into the cold cruel world of city night riding what I can say this light is plenty bright. It comes with 8 name-brand batteries already installed & ready to go, in a container that appears to be waterproof enough for a good rain shower, with a cord long enough to mount the battery-bag behind the rider if they wanted to. Buy some zip-ties from the electrical section from your favorite home hardware store as it, the package here, doesn't come with any means to properly secure the power cord to the bike frame. The small button on top of the unit will reduce the power to the LEDs to three different levels. The large button will select the number of LEDs as well as on/off after 5 sec of inactivity.
And then there is a flash mode as well. Quite the necessity when cars pull up to the intersection ahead of you. Keeps you the rider from looking like just another 'porch light'.
Consider this light a first step toward one of those $400 bike-light jobbies for sale out there.
American made. So sayeth the package.
