One Size Doesn't Fit AllMay 23, 2008 While the construction of the Seattle Sports Co. Cockpit Cover is on par with other manufacturers, each size offered (M-XXL) is not a one-size-fits-all within each cockpit-size range.
I purchased the XL-sized cover for my Old Town Rush, which has a cockpit of 38"L x 19"W--within the XL sizing. However, the dual implosion bars are wider than 19". As a result, the cover would not tighten around the cockpit. Instead, it was quite loose at the bow and stern ends of the cockpit, and on the port and starboard sides--specifically, where each implosion bar was located. It was impossible to pull the cords tighten enough to negate the effect of the dual implosion bars.
Of course, on the roof of an SUV at highway speeds, the last thing you want is a loose cockpit cover. While the sizes fit a range of cockpits, I recommend not using the cover on anything less than the largest cockpit within each size (i.e., for XL, use on a 41"L x 21"W cockpit). If you do use it on a smaller cockpit, it likely will not fit tightly, thus negating the intended use and benefits of the cockpit cover.
